Big success for the MTB & Trial Europeans in Berne
40’000 spectators followed four days of intense competitions in Berne and on the Gurten
A great number of spectators, thrilling competitions and a smooth organisation of all the events, not the least because of 250 volunteers: The organizers of the European Championships look back on four days of races and consider the Championships a great success. The concept of the Championships, with events in the city centre of Bern and on the Gurten, a free standing hill in the immediate vicinity of Bern, set a new mark for future organizers.
Over the last four days, 14 competitions took place in Berne and on the Gurten. On the final day, the Swiss team won another two silver medals. In front of the home crowd, the Swiss team did miss out on the big success in form of a gold medal. But with three silver and two bronze medals, they Swiss can look back on four triumphant days. France, winning seven medals overall, three of them gold, was the most successful nation of the European Championships.
The organizing committee of the European Championships looks back at four days of intense competitions. The four days proved to be a great success. Roughly 40’000 spectators followed the competitions at various venues – over 15’000 were on the Gurten on the final day. They created a great atmosphere. Favorable weather conditions throughout the four days, with the only occasional raindrop, most certainly helped as well.
